Spread the love

More than 800 people volunteered at the FM Championship, including 275 FM Employees and 43 FM Ambassadors. They served in a variety of roles, with some joining the “Ask Me” squad.

The most common question at this LPGA Tour event was, “Where are the restrooms?” Others included, “Where is the first tee?” One guest even asked, “How do I get a date with Charley Hull?”

Ashley Haggerty works in the FM corporate office in Finance and has been with the company for eight years. This is her third-year volunteering at the FM Championship, and she’s been part of Spectator Services each year. What she enjoys most about volunteering is helping guests, meeting new people, building relationships, and working alongside colleagues from across the organization.

“I love representing FM; sharing our brand, our story, and what we stand for.”

Over the last few years, Ashley has gotten into golf, so being at TPC Boston is always a highlight. “It’s inspiring to watch these incredible women compete and to support an event that reflects the values of FM.”

The FM Championship Ambassador Contest is a global employee program that gives FM employees the opportunity to attend the FM Championship LPGA tournament as official ambassadors of the company. Employees are invited to submit a short video or audio entry sharing a meaningful moment when they felt connected through their work at FM and explaining how that experience reflects the company’s values and inspires them to represent FM at the championship. Entries are reviewed locally, with winning ambassadors selected from FM operations and regions around the world.

Successful ambassadors receive the opportunity to attend the FM Championship in Boston, USA, where they participate in a range of exclusive experiences, including tours of FM’s Science and Technology Center and Learning Center, attendance at events with FM leadership and LPGA players, networking opportunities with fellow ambassadors, and the chance to experience world-class professional golf. The program was created to celebrate employee stories, showcase FM‘s purpose and values, and provide employees from around the globe with a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues while experiencing one of the premier events on the LPGA Tour.

Having worked at FM for 35 years, Angela Porteous had no shortage of inspiration to draw upon for her submission. She recorded and submitted her two-minute video in June and was fortunate to be selected as one of the two winners representing Australia Operations. Angela chose to bring her 19-year-old son Lewis as her guest. As a first-year engineering student at a Melbourne university, he was particularly fascinated by the opportunity to tour FM‘s Science and Technology Center and to meet many of the engineers whose work contributes to FM‘s unique approach to risk management and research. For Angela, it was also great connecting with her colleagues from the US and around the globe.
